A boxing mindset in self defence ?

In today's society, there are plenty of reasons to go to a boxing class and learn how to punch correctly, most assaults involve punches so it makes sense to learn boxing from a boxing coach as a form of self defence. One of the main reasons is to feel safe in your environment and feeling safe is one of the key principles in Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

Without this feeling of safety, a person can develop a lot of psychological disorders that would hinder them from having a productive normal life. Also joining a boxing class can be a healthy way to stay in shape and develop discipline. One of the main aspects in a self defence situation is controlling fear. The fight or flight response was a crucial aspect in human survival over the course of history.

This basically means that if you're in a life-threatening situation, you will either run away or stay and fight. We still use this basic psychological principle today to help keep ourselves safe.

The fight aspect of the fight or flight response in self-defence is always a last resort. In a self-defence situation, staying calm, cool and collected is one of the most important aspects of keeping yourself safe. If you keep your wits about you, you will be able to make the correct choices in complex situations.

Fear is one of the overriding emotions that cause people to make poor choices and can sometimes result in bodily harm or death. This is why one of the first things we teach is to stay calm in any extreme situation and control your breathing.

This mind over matter technique that we teach you in boxing may save your life. Not only will it help you in a situation where someone is attempting to harm you, but it will also help you in extreme situations, such as car accidents and other related scenarios. Being able to stay calm, will help you make the proper decisions and not freeze up in a natural fight or flight response.

Feeling confident in yourself is important for a sound mind and body. This is where boxing classes as a whole will come in handy in helping you feel confident about yourself and about your ability to defend yourself.

Knowing what to do in a dangerous situation can help you keep your cool and make the proper decisions to protect yourself and to protect others. This feeling of confidence would not only save your life and other people's lives, but also help you keep the proper psychological stability to maintain a healthy and productive life.
